DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY UNILAG TO START DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

The Human Resources Development Centre (HRDC) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Diploma in Social Development and Administration Programme in the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos. The Programme is to commence in 2013/2014 academic session.

DURATION:  Two (2) academic sessions.

LECTURE VENUE: Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: For consideration for admission into the programme, candidates are required to have any of the following academic qualifications:

• At least credit passes in Five G.C.E. O/L subjects or its equivalent at not more than one sitting, which must include ENGLISH LANGUAGE & MATHEMATICS and any other three Social Sciences/Arts subjects.
• Certificate in Social Work from any approved institution recognized by the Senate with the requisite academic qualifications.  Holders of this certificate who satisfy condition (a) above will be given preference.
• Mature candidates (30 years and over) with experience and qualification in other professions such as Nursing, Youth Leadership, Prison Service, Police Force, the Armed Forces etc. who may not have all the requisite academic qualifications, but whose organizations stand to benefit from the programme, and those who wish to transfer to Social Work. Such candidates must have credit passes in any four (4) subjects including ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

COURSE FEES PER SESSION: N 80, 000.00 COURSE MATERIALS: N10, 000.00

METHOD OF APPLICATION:

GUIDELINES FOR FILLING THE APPLICATION FORM:

1. Visit the Human Resources Development Centre Portal: hrdc.unilag.edu.ng. Click on the “Application form” link.
2. Click the pre application form link; provide the required information and submit to obtain a Payment Reference Number (Voucher). Candidates are expected to print out the Payment Reference Number (voucher) and take it to the bank for payment of five thousand naira (N 5,000.00) which is the cost of Application Form.
3. Make payment at the University of Lagos Branch of any of the following banks: WEMA BANK PLC , ECO BANK PLC, ACCESS BANK PLC, FIRST BANK PLC.
4. After payment, return to Human Resources Development Centre Portal: hrdc.unilag.edu.ng. Click the Application link, then Application Form Link, login with Payment Reference Number as username and provide surname in lowercase as password.
5. Click the Edit Application Form link to fill the Application form and upload digital passport (jpeg format) which should not be more than 15kb in size and must be in white background. The acceptable dimension is: width- 235 pixels or 35mm, height- 314 pixels or 40mm Failure to comply with specified image format may lead to disqualification.
6. Click “SUBMIT FORM” button after filling the form completely; else click “DECLINE” button. After submission, applicants are required to print the completed Application Form for submission at the Human Resources Development Centre Secretariat. Submit the printed form along with two (2) sets of your Credentials. 

Please note that if payment is not made within five (5) days of obtaining the Payment Reference Number (voucher), the pre-application would be DECLINED. Applicants will then be expected to refill the pre-application form to obtain a new Payment Reference Number (voucher).

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS AND COLLECTION OF ADMISSION LETTERS: Completed application forms should be returned to the Human Resources Development Centre (HRDC), UNILAG not later than six (6) weeks from the date of this publication. Qualifying Examination will take place at the Faculty of Social Sciences, ten (10) weeks from the date of this publication.  The date and time of the examination will be publicized on the University website: www.unilag.edu.ng and the Department of Sociology, Human Resources Development Centre Secretariat, UNILAG Main Campus.
